In a recent interview with Ideamensch, Dr. Chris Villanueva confessed to have started [email protected] dental as an inspiration from his own challenges. He remembers graduating college ad finding that he had only two options. He would either work as part of a group or as an independent practitioner. Working in a group would benefit him in terms of economies of scale, advanced technology and best practices. However, it would meaning losing independence and a lot of bureaucracy. On the other hand, working as a solo physician would mean missing out on the economies of scale and getting the newest technology would be very difficult. Therefore, he decided to come up with a model that would see his fellow dentists benefit from the best of both worlds. That was when MB2 Dental was founded.

Since MB2 Dental was founded, it has expanded to support more than 73 solo practitioners across more than 6 states. Today, the company boasts of employing more than 533 people. The employees come from various industries including procurement, accounting, human resource, legal, and marketing-just to name a few.

During the interview, Dr. Villanueva stated that he gets most of his ideas late at night. He also advised fellow entrepreneurs to stop micro-managing. The only thing that bosses should be doing is getting the best talent, formulating a vision, and empowering the employees then staying out of their way for work to be done.
